Zocor

Zocor (simvastatin) is a prescription drug used for patients with high levels of cholesterol in blood that are at a higher risk of developing serious health conditions, such as heart attack, stroke and vascular disease as a result of hardening of the arteries. Taking Zocor is supposed to be combined with low-fat and low-cholesterol diet and healthier lifestyle. You will have to exercise regularly and follow some other recommendations your doctor will provide when prescribing Zocor. This is necessary to make sure you will be able to maintain the results achieved when you stop using Zocor. The following mild side effects are possible when you start taking Zocor: heartburn, nausea, mild stomach pain, bloating, constipation, gas, stomach upset, and diarrhea. They are not supposed to be reported to your doctor unless they get very bothersome and affect the quality of your treatment. Make sure you tell your doctor if you are using cholestyramine, steroids, nefazodone, danazol, amiodarone, warfarin, diltiazem, HIV or AIDS medication, erythromycin, clarithromycin, verapamil, cancer medicine, telithromycin, or antifungal medication, as some of these drugs can interact with Zocor. This medicine can cause birth defects in an unborn baby. Make sure you use a reliable form of birth control to avoid getting pregnant throughout the entire period of your treatment.
